Rebecca Hardiman's debut novel follows an Irish family whose lives change when an american home aide comes to the house. The family being, Kevin Gogarty and his mother, 83 year old Millie as well as Kevin's kids. The three generations. The book is amazing and shows the effect of getting old as it seems Millie is suffering from the first effects of dementia. It's about how the family copes with everything being sent their way and will the marriage survive. The American aide, Slyvia Phenning is sent to help as Millie is caught shoplifting and the aide is in place to stop her doing it again and going to jail. The writing style was great and so easy to get into which allowed for a speedy enjoyable read. I love that it's told from three different points of view allowing for deeper understanding of the story. It's just a nice light, easy read that people who have older parents living with them may be able to relate too.
