I read this book more through curiosity than being immediately attracted to it. The cover looked guirky and the first look sounded fun. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it because it is brilliant.

The book is told through three perspectives: Millie, Kevin, and Aideen.
The character development is so well done and all the characters were loveable in their own ways.

Throughout this book we learn about all of their personal struggles. Millie the grandma who is lonely and keen for attention gained via mischief, feels as though her family want to pass her off as slightly 'cuckoo'. Kevin feels the strain of being unemployed with a family to look after and a wife who is often absent. And Aideen sees herself as the less desirable twin and maybe sibling in general, cemented by her enrollment into boarding school.

When Millie finds herself in trouble with the police for petty theft Kevin hires some home help to keep her on track. Following an accident at home she becomes a resident of a care home which she is sure she will not be staying at. We follow her journey of escape and watch her relationship with Aideen beautifully blossom.

The way the book is written is fun and enjoyable with Irish slang added. I love the constant reference to good eggs and bad eggs consistently through the book.

I've found myself finishing the book and only wishing I could go for lunch with Millie, what an adventure.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves a crazy, fun little old lady adventure.
