Not what I expected

I was somehow hoping I will enjoy this book more than I actually did. I struggled finishing it and did not feel like something too complex. It would have been a lot better as a short story or novella.

The book follow the paths of three generations of one family: Millie, the funky, quirky grandmother, Kevin, the mid life crisis father and Aideen, the perfectly misunderstood rebel teenager. Each with their own problems and out of the ordinary solutions.

I enjoyed Millie's story and her relationship to Aideen, it felt like a breath of fresh air after the long and quite uninteresting parts of Kevin.

I did not appreciate the humour and I feel really sorry about it. One of the main qualities of this type of story and genre is the humour. But somehow I just did not see it funny.

All in all, it is a good beach read and despite the fact thay I expected more of it, I would recommend it for a relaxing read.
