Good Eggs is the story of three generations from the Gogarty family.
In this book you follow:
Aideen- misunderstood teenager
Kevin- father to Aideen and her siblings, un-employed and a bit lost
Millie- step mother to Kevin, widowed, lonely and a trouble maker.
The book is set in modern day Dublin.
This book has short chapters which switch perspective, i feel this method of storytelling keeps it light and engaging.
It didn't take me long to read this book, it moved quickly and the short chapters helped.
In this book you follow the three central characters through a variety of mishaps. I would say the most central of the three characters is Millie, an 89 year old grandmother who cannot help but cause trouble. At the very beginning of the book she is caught shoplifting, which opens the book up to the chain of events which emerge in the book.
The themes of this book include loss, angst, crime, romance, adultery but the book itself is a comedy despite its themes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, i liked Aideen & Millie, Kevin i found selfish. I liked the family dynamic of the characters, i enjoyed that all the events could happen and i found it genuinely funny.
