Prime Suspect detective growing up
I really like the idea of Lynda going back to Jane Tennison's early days so we can read how she began her journey to a top detective.
This story is excellent, with the IRA bombs making an appearance, and Jane getting involved with some shady characters, albeit seeming perfectly normal on the surface. She's a little too trusting at times, but manages to make up for her faults with her incisive brain.
I like the police procedural aspect of these books and though Jane is rather gauche at times, we can begin to see how she hones her skills.
Very well-written as usual, the story is clever and complex. We even get to see Jane in civvies for a change.
I shall continue to follow the series with great interest!
