Abi (the main character) is a single mother and owns a Happiness Cafe. Her brother disappeared when she was fifteen, and ever since then, she has been receiving chapters from ‘The Guidebook’ from complete strangers.
After years of looking for her brother, she is given the opportunity to go to a mini holiday/retreat that will offer her the truth. She can’t help but go as she knows she will find answers to her brother’s disappearance.
Instead of finding her brother once she arrives, she ends up forming a group with some people.
This was an amazingly written deep and thought-provoking book. I found myself wanting to read more and more to find out what truly happened to her brother.
I liked the way that each character developed and had their own personality. They each had their own backstory.
