I wanted to like this book, the blurb sounds great and like something I would read, but I just did not get on with it and couldn't finish it.
There just wasn't enough going on to keep me interested and I found my attention wandering frequently, the story just seemed to plod along and the frequent changes between past and present didn't help. The characters themselves weren't bad, but I found them quite bland and I really didn't engage with any of them enough to keep reading.
Its a shame because I liked the writing style and at the start of the book I laughed out loud a few times and I found it quick to read as the chapters were short. I may still go back to it and finish it, as I don't like leaving books unfinished.
