Written in the first person, this book wastes no time in telling you about the main character, Abi, without really telling you anything about her. It isn't until at least chapter 2 or 3 that you find out a little more about her home life, about why she is where she is and at least a little about the background of the situation. In fact, the missing brother that the premise of this book refers to is not even mentioned until chapter 7. And that's what drew me into this book.

It is a novel that has a strong female character at its very heart, determined, not just to find answers to the many questions that she has had since a traumatic event as a teenager, but to answer questions about her very self as well. It's a poignant look at what makes us human, and has the ability to make the reader consider themselves as Abi considers herself also.

I can't wait to see what Jaclyn Moriarty writes next.
