I wasn't sure about this when I started reading it. After the first few chapters I wasn't sure where it was going. But... I persevered and am glad I did as it is a lovely book about life and the choices we make and the effect that they have or don't have on other people's choices.
The main character Abigail had a younger brother who disappeared as she turned sixteen. He was less than a year younger than her and they were very close. It has had a huge impact on her family. Her parents split as her Mother was convinced he would come home at some point, her Father taking the opposite view. Abi is now in her thirties and receives an invite "The Guidebook", something she has been receiving from around the time her brother disappeared. The invite is for a weekend retreat. A retreat that causes ripples in her seemingly settled existence.
Worth a read. It's ultimately an enjoyable read.
