This simply is a wonderfully well written book. The story is based around and narrated from the view of the main character, Abigail (Abi) Sorensen. Owner of the Happiness Café and single parent to son Oscar, her brother, Robert, disappeared on the night of her 16th birthday and has never been found.
Around this time she began receiving random chapters of The Guidebook, a strange self-help book that is mailed to her over many years. She is eventually invited to an all expenses paid retreat to learn ‘the truth’ about The Guidebook. Convinced her brothers disappearance is somehow connected, how could she refuse.
This story is well crafted and the narrative flows very easily making it an enjoyable read.
