I'm no stranger to spy fiction and do like the general sense I get with a spy thriller.
However I didn't enjoy this first impression, I think understandably that as this is the third novel of a series If I'd read the first two I'd have had all the scene setting, which seems to be taken for a givenl.
Whilst this is by no means a complete stumbling block on enjoying a novel, without knowing the backstory this first impression was really short! I just didn't feel engaged by the opening pages, It just didn't quite do enough for me to want to read more of this novel.
