Cold War
One there is in this First Impression is a sense of fun. Strange when you consider the setting but it is there in every interaction. I have no idea if the Russian language is replicated correctly and I genuinely don't care whether it is or not. I had fun reading this short excerpt but I'm not convinced that would extend to the rest of the novel, I think it may get a little wearying.
Certainly a strong start that fits well to the time and the place.
