I was attracted by the synopsis, loved the idea of a bored spy missing out on the excitment of London in the Swinging-Sixties but creating his own excitment by engaging in a bit of smuggling, only to find himself facing more and more danger ... the potential for gung-ho humour is very appealing! I also feel attracted by the historical setting of the Cold War
Although this is the third book in a series starring the MI6 spy, my first impression is that it would probably be easy to read as a stand-alone story.
