English author and screenwriter John Lawton has long been a favourite of those readers who like literary crime fiction. This was a highly satisfying read, definitely the best book of the Wilderness series by John Lawton - better known as the author of the Troy series. Despite its European locations, this is a very British spy story. This is a spy thriller of the cold war times. Terrific writing, a complex plot with a twist ending, and a roguish lead will have readers eagerly awaiting his next adventure. Hammer to Fall is a gripping tale of deception and skullduggery, of art and politics. I really enjoyed reading this book. I am not big fan of historical stories, but this one was not boring one.
