I did enjoy reading this book, it is a light hearted spy thriller, although this is not one of my favourite genres. It is set mainly in the 1960s it covers the events in the career of the protagonist, Wilderness, from the end of the second world war. Including event in post war Berlin, 1950s Finland and ending in Prague in 1969.
I found the style of writing difficult to get into at first as it is very fast moving. there is a lot of humour in this book and a lot of quite obscure references to 1960s culture that anyone under the age of 60 may have difficulty understanding (eg. who knows who Mr pastry was?).
Although I found this book good I do not think that this is a book that will appeal to everyone'
