Modern day romance
I love the bright vibrant colours of the cover and think it's very smart to put an image of the protagonist on the front so it gives you a inkling of what she'll be like as she is wearing a fashionable headscarf and chilling out to some music.
The premise of a local restaurant getting shut down by a bigger better restaurant is not a new one, however what Jalaluddin has done to make it an interesting novel is to make it a halal-restaurant. The struggles of this family against hate crime is what draws me to this novel, and I hope what sounds like a Romeo and Juliet type situation with Hana and Aydin is not as predictable as the original.
To me this sounds like a romance novel that has some social commentary on society's attitude to marginalised groups and that fascinates me.
