This is a refreshing book filled with the sweetest characters. As a white woman, I think it's so important for me to read books written by people from different ethnicities, and about different lifestyles to my own. While I am usually sceptical of 'chick-lit', this book is extremely well-written and takes us on the journey of Hana as she faces hate-crime and attempts to reconcile it with her gentle humour.
If you're a fan of The Fault in Our Stars, then this is a refreshing taste on young adult, teen fiction. It covers important topics in a way that is accessible and important.
This is the perfect addition to school libraries and teenagers' bookshelves. Fiction is the ideal way for people to explore lifestyles different to their own and can make us all more compassionate people. Uzma Jalaluddin achieves this beautifully in this book.
