Having really enjoyed reading "Ayesha at last", I was keen to read the author's second book "Hana Khan carries on". Overall, I thought it was really good. The story centres around Hana who is struggling to break through into the world of radio whilst staying true to her beliefs and principles aswell as attempting to keep the family run restaurant afloat at all costs. Hana has developed an online friendship with one of her podcast listeners and I liked how sections of the book are the messages those to send to each other. Whilst being quite a light hearted book in places, Hana Khan Carries On covers important issues relating to racism. The attitudes of some of the racist protestors in the story made me really angry! I enjoyed reading about Hana's lifestyle and customs and enjoyed the theme of strong women that runs through the book. I felt frustrated by some of the choices Hana makes in the story and found the book a little predictable but overall I enjoyed it.
