This book follows the life of Hana Khan, born in Toronto to immigrant parents. An aspiring radio broadcaster with her own anonymous podcast currently waitressing part time at her families halal restaurant. The family restaurant is struggling and it hits hard when a competitor opens up nearby. Hana and her cousin plan to sabotage the new opening until Hana starts falling for the owners son, Aydin.

Bit of a typical romcom but I loved it and found myself always eager to read on! Really enjoyed how it was all narrated by Hana but you still got to get to know the other characters. I especially liked Rashid, he was great and soooo funny in parts! The theme of friendship and family ties throughout was great to read too.

A huge part of the storyline dealt with racism and hate crime towards the Muslim community and how they dealt with it. This was perfectly written and raised some important issues and it’s just awful that this still happens in 2021.

Overall, I just loved Hana she’s a relatable girl and I was so invested in her and just wanted the best for her!

P.S. the ending I was just left like this ☺️☺️☺️☺️

I will 100% be looking into reading some other of Uzma Jalaluddin’s work cos I thought this was fab!

Thank you so much @readersfirst, @uzmajalaluddin & @corvusbooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is out 3rd June!
