I didn't get a copy from Readers first and I was a little disappointed. However I won a copy on social media from the publishers! I was very pleased I did as this book is lovely to read. Ok , its not a challenging read but ultimately its a romance. The story of Hanaan and her family in Canada. Hana is canadian born and bred but her parents were immigrants.
The story also looks at the muslim culture in a western society. The author cleverly keeps things simple and its was to understand the muslim culture if you have zero knowledge before ready this book. The author keeps a clever balance of serious thought and drama, with a racially motivated scene taking place and the consequences of this as the story pans out.
I won't ruin the ending but i think this would be a good read for a young adult as well as a 40 year old! I haven't read the authors first novel but intend to do so!
