Hana Khan Carries On is a super cute friends to lovers story.

If your cup of tea is a book that keeps you guessing then maybe this book would not be for you, as I found the plot to be obvious, however there were a few small plot twists to change it up and keep it exciting. I did love however how the book wasn’t solely just focused on the love story aspect, and rather there was a lot of focus on the character Hana’s career/ambitions, and also on her culture and it’s struggles. The book touched on topics of racism, hate crimes and Islamaphobia. I think overall the varied focuses of the book are what make it such a great read.

I loved the well developed side characters, such as cousin Rashid who is absolutely hilarious, it allowed for different perspectives. I also loved how Uzma Jalaluddin uses podcasts and transcripts in her book to ask the reader to dig deeper and consider the authors message.

Overall, there is not much to fault about this book, and I will definitely be on the look out for more of Uzma’s books.
