Thank you to readersfirst for the chance to read the first few chapters of this book for review. This was such a good start, an MC with a really strong voice who’s story I can’t wait to hear more of. I couldn’t help but wonder if the male character who entered the restaurant was StanleyP, simply because he made such a disastrous first impression - which is always a fantastic romance trope; especially when combined with the secret pen pal arc. I really loved how supportive her family was - I think the idea of an immigrant family forcing their children down X career path is obviously one that happens; but it’s nice to read a book where that’s not the case, and they support her dreams of broadcast journalism. The setting felt real - the description of the area, the slightly run down decor; the cup-de-sac - this is an author who knows how to describe without taking it too far. I’d love to read this full book!
