I was very excited to pick up this book after reading 'Ayesha at Last'. Much like 'Ayesha at Last' 'Hana Khan Carries on' is an authentic portrayal of a love story between two Muslim main characters. It is incredibly rare to see this type of relationship represented well especially in written media.

Hana the title character finds love without having to change or compromise her beliefs. She isn't the damsel in distress who is oppressed by her Muslim parents that we often see. She doesn't need to rebel or defy her parents to pursue the life she wants to lead. Rather they wholeheartedly support her passion for working as a radio broadcaster/podcaster.

This book also tackled the issue of hate crimes especially when they are perpetrated against visibly Muslim women who wear the hijab like Hana. It is an unfortunate but very real occurrence that needs to be addressed more. Muslims are often see as barbaric or aggressors purely because of the way they are dressed.
