Lightweight
Goodness - this is so lightweight and frothy it could just blow away. It's an insubstantial story that rambles and meanders it way to a totally 'meh' conclusion.
The characters are all stereotypes and unoriginal - aloof daughter-in-law who's steely exterior is exposed to reveal - oh - she's not so bad after all, humourless nurses, unfeeling doctors, and the teen with a heart of gold, with an obligatory cute kid who mispronounces words for comedy effect.
And then there's our hero - the eponymous grumpy old man.....who I found utterly unlikeable. Clearly written as a 'there's a bit of grumpy man inside us all' railing against a fast changing society, but to me he came across as an narcissistic authoritarian.
