I was very excited to read this book. It has been compared to 'A Man called Ove', which I really loved.
The cover design was great too and I was looking forward to delving into the world of the grump.
Sadly, the book fell slightly short for me personally.
Although I found the book dry and witty in many places, (his observations of the world are sometimes so spot on and accurately summed up!) I found the rest of the book dragged.
I didn't think the characters were that well fleshed out and I was just left wanting more detail.
The novel includes many Finnish cultural references, which were lost on me as I don't know much about the country. So i believe you would get far more enjoyment from it if you were to understand these points.
All in all witty in places but a little off the mark.
