So I read the first couple of chapters of this book in a “First Impressions” of @readersfirst and ever since I have wanted to read it.

I was intrigued beyond normal about this story! What had Beth seen? Were those kids really Thomas and Emily, their friends’ children? Why did they look exactly the same than 12 years ago?
My mind was going crazy trying to find out what had happened! And I happily followed Beth in her journey to discover so.

I found Beth, the main character, super annoying at times, trying to find out things that weren't her business and going way too far stalking people. However, her resilience and thirst for the truth made me enjoy this wild journey!

I appreciated how stubborn she was, how she started to talk to different people that might have know the Braids (Their friends), to go to the kids’ school, to visit their neighbours... Thinking about it seems a little bit crazy, a little bit too much, but knowing all they knew, it was the least they could do!

I thought they were right thinking that there was something off. Something wasn’t right! The Braids were lying to them, the acted suspicious and events, dates and names didn’t add up!
I found Lewis Braid a bit creepy, a weirdo and a person I wouldn’t like to be friends with. I sensed straight away that he was dodgy and I was prepared for a very twisted outcome.

And then, the end came and MEH! Sophie Hannah had built up this huge and incredible creepy, scary even scenario, and when everything got revealed and it happened in such a not original way, I felt underwhelmed and a little bit disappointed. It felt so unrealistic, over the top and nonsensical that my rating went straight from 5 stars to 3!
