This book was originally published in 2004 under the title Our Cousin Rosanna.
It tells the story of 2 families living in the Fens from 1938 to 1968 and is referenced by important events during that period such as the Second World War and the US troops stationed in East Anglia, the Coronation, the Festival of Britain and the Great Flood In 1963.
Whilst I do not consider it to be great literature, it was an enjoyable, easy to read book and many readers will be able to remember and reminisce about the times described.
The characters weren’t too memorable for me but served their purpose in conveying the mores of the time - this book is social history.
