A Voyage of Discovery.. the story of three generations..
The premise of Her Mother’s Daughter appeals to me hugely because there is so much to be discovered. Already I am intrigued by what sent Josephine hightailing it to London in 1980 and how she received the call from her sister telling her of their mother’s ailing health. Was there always a pull to return to Ireland or is there a bigger story behind her return?
The two narratives of Josephine and Clare are very distinct and different in tone and there is little doubt about which character is being shown. I loved Clare’s childish wide eyed optimism but I fear that before too long she will become far more disenchanted and make some very painful discoveries.
