Hmmm, it's not really my kind of read but I can see the effort the author has put in, especially when writing as the young child, the vocabulary,tone and structure of the dialouge seems to fit the characters they are building.
The story seems to be angling towards two different time frames, a young girl looking at a mother who is either struggling with life (or possibly worse) and in their youthful naivety not understanding the meaning of her mother's words and actions. And that same mother as she leaves home and spreads her wings for the first time 17 years earlier.
Unfortunately this first impression really didn't contain anything more that a setting the scene type opening, and as I was already dubious about it being my thing, their was little else really to comment on or show the aims or plot hints of the story, to me there isn't much else to say on it .
