The writing style in this book reflected the character of Clare well, the style seemed childish and almost overly simplistic but when it came to the character of Josephine I felt the writing style didn't change to match the adult character. However altogether this book was a great, realistic portrayal of a family with dark secrets, trying to put on a front for the rest of the world, with a struggling mother and a dark past, this book kept me reading and was difficult to put down.
The ending I felt was lacking as it seemed unfinished but in a way that reflected the reality and rawness of the situation the characters found themselves in.
The chapter sizes were perfect and the writing style was very easy to understand. I felt the Mother's peril was very well portrayed and realistic, making it easier to feel for the character.
Overall, I would recommend reading this book as it is an excellent tribute to the dark secrets that families can carry.
