This story is written from 2 points of view - that of Josephine who left her home and family in Ireland when she was 18 and that of her 10 year old daughter, Clare.
Josephine and her husband and their two children, Clare and Thomas, return to Ireland to visit Josephine's family for the first time in 17 years to see her dying mother.
The narration of the story is very basic - I felt the thoughts and language was too naïve and simplistic even for a 10 year old. The plot didn't seem to develop and at the end of the book, the story just seemed to fizzle out as if the author had lost interest in the story or couldn't be bothered to carry on any more.
For me, the book was a disappointment as the blurb had suggested that it would be suitable for fans of Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain, which I certainly am.
