Her Mother's Daughter tells the story of Josephine and her daughter Clare. After leaving Ireland many years previously for London, Josephine only arranges to go back 'home' after being given the news that her own mother is gravely ill. For Josephine, this sets her on a path of remembering her unhappy years in Ireland and all the reasons she originally left. Meanwhile the happily oblivious Clare sees the trip as a cause for great excitement.

I enjoyed the fact that this story was told in split perspectives, but I think maybe my expectations were a little high for this one. I had seen reviews comparing this to Jodi Picoult, but I do not agree. For me, parts of this felt terribly stretched out and I didn't engage with it as much as I felt I should have. An okay read, but not my favourite.
