This book is sure to hold the attention of readers of all ages. Set during the Second World War, it centres on the relocation of important pieces of art from London to a secret location in Wales for safekeeping from the bombs dropping on the capital.
We meet again the Bletchley Park children from Rhiannon Tracey’s first book, I Spy.
Ned and his mother, are involved in the storage of the art work in a slate quarry. They befriend Anni, a Jewish refugee, and all reside with local teenager, Harri, his mother and her trainee guide dog, Kip.
There story encompasses lots of historical events, which keeps it more or less credible towards the end when the Enid Blyton type adventure becomes more like a James Bond thriller.
A few loose ends and incredible coincidences but overall an enjoyable read.
Shame about the smattering of distracting typos throughout the book.
