"Hide and Seek" by Rhian Tracey is the second story in the Bletchley Park Mystery series, and it is every bit as enjoyable as the first book.

This instalment sees Ned and his mother Helen relocate from Bletchley Park to Manod in North Wales, where priceless works of art from the National Gallery are being stored in a slate quarry, safe from enemy attack during the second world war. The writing is very descriptive, and it is easy to picture the area and the quarry.

The story involves lots of adventures again for the children; this time Ned is aided and abetted by Harri (the son of their landlady, Mrs Thomas) and Anni, a refugee from Vienna. And, of course, Kip the guide dog. We do, however, meet up again with the two children from the previous story, Robyn and Mary, towards the end of the book.

In addition to being a good adventure story for children, this book is educational too. I particularly enjoyed reading the historical notes at the end, and felt that I learned a lot.
