The concept of this storyline and its historical significance is top notch. Truly fascinating to know that during the Second World War, art was protected and our finest art hidden in a quarry in wales. Rhiannon Tracey has fully embraced this factual narrative and interwoven it into her established characters of Ned and his mother. The storyline carefully navigates through the tensions between refugees and those who felt forced to accommodate them. The general fear and suspicion that encroached on everyday lives and brought genuine danger to remote communities. The Welsh contribution to the war effort meant that a lot of refugees stayed after the war, and became influential in the cultural development of our country. Ned’s arch nemesis is cleverly interwoven into the story and of course leaves the reader wondering what is next for Ned. I opted for three stars as am not sure the content and pace was going to be entertaining enough for the age group it was aimed at and perhaps fell a little short to be enticing enough for a older generation
