I’ve been looking forward to reading this book since seeing the sneak peek and I have not been left disappointed! I love stories centred around Bletchley Park and its history. I have not read a Rhian Tracey book before and this story follows on from its predecessor (which I will now be reading) which was based around three young people working at Bletchley Park during World War 2. This book moves away from Bletchley to Wales following a teenager called Ned who wants to escape his domineering father so travels with his mum to a secret location for an important job. They are looking after artwork from the National Gallery which is being kept in a slate mine on the side of a mountain hoping to keep it hidden from the enemy which is not easy to do….
I love stories that are based on true events. The author has created characters that are easy to like and there is great attention to detail which really brings it to life. I have already given the book to my son to read as it is a great way of introducing young readers to World War 2 history. I will definitely be recommending it for our school library.
I haven’t read the first book in this series but will definitely add it to my collection. I thoroughly recommend this book and I look forward to reading further books by this author.
