A shocking beginning.

The beginning of this book should carry a health warning. I was utterly shocked and horrified by the start of it. Although I understand what the book was trying to impart, there was no need for such a graffic description of the beginning of the story. It really upset me. When I won the book I didn't reread those pages.
After the initial pages the story did get going.
I enjoyed and admired the central characters. The author has created strong, purposeful women.
Angie's plunge into the pit of despair was so well written, I almost felt I was going through it with her. Her rescue at the eleventh hour was pure joy.
This could have been a great book if the first few pages had been written differently.
