This is the first review I've left with only a single star, but sadly I don't think this warrants anything higher. The quality of the writing is lacking, the story drags and is dull. None of the characters feel appealing.
It was overall a disappointing read and I was both surprised and disappointed by this as having read previous books by the author I have enjoyed them. This is a huge let down by general fiction standards and by those of the author herself.
Even stories where there is no "happy ever after" can be a brilliant read, but there is so much lacking from this book that sadly I'm struggling to find anything to praise in this story, though I truly wish I could. This book has, if I'm honest, put me off reading more of the works of this author.
