I‘ve read quite a few books now by Susan Lewis and I’ve loved every one so I couldn’t wait to get stuck into Home Truths.

Angie Watts and her husband Steve have a happy life. They have a home that they love and three children they adore. Things take a turn for the worse though when their oldest son Liam gets in with the wrong crowd, a crowd that is feared and you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side off. When Steve goes to confront his son one day he doesn’t return and Angies world collapses around her.
Home Truths explores homelessness, drugs and trafficking and shows just how easy it can be to get pulled into these things when circumstances change and poverty spirals out of control. It made me think about what I would do if ever I was in any of these situations and it’s quite a scary thought and made me very grateful for what I have.
The characters are well developed in Home Truths and it doesn’t take long to feel like you really know them and care for them. The opening to the story had me hooked and with each page I turned I fell further and further into the story and was totally gripped. It’s a story with characters that really got under my skin and I found myself thinking about it when I wasn’t reading and desperate to get back to it to see what would happen next.
I really enjoyed this book and although it was heartbreaking at times it really showed how strong family bonds can be. It’s a thought provoking read that shows how easy it can be to go from having everything you need to have nothing through no fault of your own.
Home Truths is another Susan Lewis Book to add to my favourites and one I can highly recommend.
