I read this book as part of a book club pick and found I struggled with it! I found the plot quite slow and thought it had so much potential which was not used! There were lots of subplots which were not explored other than being in the story momentarily, which I thought was a shame. I came dangerously close to not finishing... its only because I can’t leave a book unfinished that I managed it! I also thought it may have been a nice addition to hear from Angie’s son, Liam, as he’d gone through such a massive trauma but his own grief and feelings weren’t really investigated. Despite this, I thought it drew on some really important societal issues, such as financial issues, homelessness, grief, gangs and violence and trauma. I just wish they’d been explored a little more.
