Not quite there
This book unfortunately fell a bit flat for me.
It explored some very important topics of drugs, gangs, homelessness, poverty and human trafficing and I had very high hopes, but it didn’t quite reach them.
Initially I was disappointed that because I thought this was going to be a much darker grittier story than it was.
I didn’t feel like the main character was likeable enough, and therefore I couldn’t connect with the hardships she was facing.
I also felt that certain storylines (I won’t say which because I don’t want to post a spoiler) which were intriguing just ended fairly suddenly and I think much more could have been done with them.
Although overall I did find the book disappointing, I commend the author for raising the topics that this book focuses around and I did find those interesting and eye opening as to how many people face these problems.
