This is the second book to feature Liverpool murder detective Nathan Cody. Despite continuing nightmares and anxieties from a previous case, Cody manages to use his unusual perception and gut instinct to track down a serial killer who is targeting blond females with religious connections.
I love the clever repartee between the Cody and his team and agree with the Guardian review that Jackson's writing is on a par with Harlan Coben. The Liverpool setting and wit of its inhabitants feature strongly.
Cody's murder team and their backgrounds are now as familiar to me as those of Carol Jordan (Val McDermid) and Roy Grace (Peter James) so David Jackson has achieved a lot in just 2 books and I can't wait to read his third Nathan Cody book which is due to be published in 2018.
