This is another feel good story of family life set mainly in London during the 1920s.
There is a bit more intrigue and excitement in this story than in The Gingerbread Girl by the same author which I read recently.
The main character, Florence, is a loving mother figure, who is always willing to help out anyone in distress or down on their luck as well as running her famous pie shop. The other characters all have troubled relationships at some point during the book but all are satisfactorily resolved. There is also intrigue involving a kidnapping, private detective and missing valuables.
I would recommend this book to any of the many fans of nostalgic family sagas based during the first half of the twentieth century.
