The book starts off with an assurance that this book is not a history of transplantation, it is not an autobiography; what then is it? There is no satisfactory or simple answer provided to the question "What is this book about?" Indeed the First Impression seems very much to be a mixture of both things the author tells us that the book definitely is not.

I was looking forward to reading this First Impression as, like many people, I am fascinated with medical processes and procedures and was hoping to learn more about the processes involved in transplantation. I'm not entirely sure that this book is going to give me that. It could just be that the first two chapters are not indicative of the book, I hope so.
