If you enjoy reading about medicine as a non-medical professional you will love this book! Information on the history and current state of transplant surgery and research is given in a relatively simple fashion but in a surprising level of detail! I liked how the book is divided into different sections (such as "The Patients" and "The Donors"). Also, key information points are recapped and built upon throughout the chapters, which is helpful. Given the subject matter, certain chapters are incredibly sad and at times not easy to read and I didn't really like how many times I had to read "sadly the patient died" but overall the author demonstrates his great respect for the organ donors and transplant recipients.
I found the book both fascinating and absorbing and it is one I will most likely come back to in the future.
