As I saw the title of this book, and having just put down "This is Going to Hurt" which I loved, I thought this book would be similar. However from the first few pages I see it is different in many ways, thoughtful and moving as Adam Kay's book was but less about the surgeon and more about the reality of donation, the people and the feelings that are associated with such an incredible field.

The book is brilliant and gave me an insight into a world which truly affects so many of us throughout life, this is a difficult topic and yet Mezrich makes it impossible to stop reading. Organ transplantation is something that is shrouded with mystery and often we only really think about when we are involved however the honesty in this book surrounding personal accounts make the topic accessible to all. The way that surgical process is detailed is great and gave me a true appreciation for the surgeons involved and the people whose lives are effected so personally. The author covers everything in sympathetic detail, from the development of translation to the true stories meaning I will constantly be referring back to it. Mezrich's deep empathy and understanding make this book one I will definitely read again. Highly recommended!
