This book is brilliant I will go as far as to say simply genius! It is a non fiction book about the day to day life of a transplant surgeon, told from the perspective of a practicing surgeon. As a person who works in healthcare this was astounding and inspiring, and most importantly the struggles and stories of the patients really touched me. For me the book is written honestly, with compassion that does justice to both the patients, surgeons and nurses, it is inspiring.

On a side note, as a healthcare worker I understood the surgical and anatomical references, as well as the needs of the patients involved. Many of the philosophical discussions over who we should give a transplant who, I understood because I come across many such situations. I felt that an ordinary person might not get as much out the book, as some of the technical terms could be harder to follow. In saying that it was tremendously interesting learning about the history of successful transplantation, and it is a nod to the sacrifices and gains that have been made in the past one hundred years, amazing!
