From the moment I read and reviewed this books first impression I was hooked. I am fascinated to “go behind the knife” as it were to find out what happens when we close our eyes and give our bodies to those that need them.
The book is very well written in the most part, it gives a detailed insight into every stage of this very particular and meticulous process. It did at times however, feel that the author forgot who his readership was. I found myself lost in the language and terminology of the procedures on a couple of occasions, so it felt like it had been written for those studying medicine or other surgeons themselves. I felt it had lost its perspective of those readers without any medical training.
On a positive note however I was warmed by the interpretation of the humanity this book portrayed when it discussed the donor themselves and of course their families, and indeed the difficulties of facing the decision to become an organ donor.

I enjoyed this book immensely and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.
