An attentive and candid look at the transplantation of human organs... Performance by perseverance is the main theme of this novel, and Mezrich does a commendable job in a critical sector, sharing his death-to-life experiences.

The author follows a well researched, detailed history of transplantation on his fellowship trip, learning from the legacy of modern medicine's great explorers and masters. Drawing on his personal medical experience, the tales of patients and their personal transplantation experience as seen through the eyes of a very human surgeon. Not what I was expecting as a recipient of a liver transplant, but more so, the human side of When Death Becomes Life.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly, loved to read the inspiring stories of the men and women who believed in something, and made it happen. This author's stories and his respectful, reflective take on his own meaningful life were also enjoyed.
