If you have an interest in surgery this will have lots to interest
If you have an interest in medicine/surgery this will be right up your alley. It covers a multitude of history/information regarding transplant surgery. It covers pretty much all transplant surgery - from the pancreas, liver, heart and kidney.
As someone who has no great anatomical knowledge I found a lot of it a little over complicated and not especially interesting.
What was more of a "lay persons" read were some of the true life stories. Obviously, for the majority of transplants, someone has to die first and this is a pretty hard reality that many of us would struggle to deal with. It must be very difficult to wish for a death in order that you may live.
This was, without doubt, thought provoking but perhaps too impersonal to make much of an impression on me. Towards the end I found myself skipping through lots of sections as I'd had enough of the technical stuff.
Perhaps a few more real life case studies would have made it more accessible for non medically minded readers...…..
